New supporting member: The University of Manchester
We are delighted to announce that The University of Manchester (UoM) has joined Open Knowledge Maps as a supporting member. UoM is the first UK member as well as the fourth organisation to join Open Knowledge Maps with a Visionary Membership.
Part of the prestigious Russell Group of universities, UoM is the largest single-site university in the UK, with the biggest student community. The University of Manchester’s Office for Open Research helps to make the work of our 7,000 person strong research and academic community more open and transparent. By aiding the development of open research skills and practices, we are working towards more reproducible, efficient, and rigorous research.
Bill Ayres, Strategic Lead for Research Data Management, and Scott Taylor, Head of the Office for Open Research, outline the reasons for becoming a member:
"We strive to give our researchers, and the teams who work alongside them, truly useful data and information about their open research outputs; we want them to be able to see this in a way which maximises its visual impact and could help them to identify future collaborative partners. Open Knowledge Maps provides the perfect platform for this, and their ethos and approach aligns with our own commitment to open research and bringing research to wider communities."
