A gift from OKMaps to you!
2022 is wrapping up, and in the spirit of celebration, we invite you to take a stroll down 2022-lane. This past year has brought quite a few novelties into the OKMaps world.
Thanks to our combined efforts with you, our community, Open Knowledge Maps is witnessing a steady rise of online followers. Just this last year alone, our visual search engine has welcomed over 4 times the number of visits in comparison to last year’s number. We can hear you happy mappers typing away!
Inspired by our continuous conversation with you, we have implemented several highly requested features that can ease your workflow. Let us take a deeper dive into these novel feats!
First in our gift basket, we present you with the citation feature. When it comes to making the dreaded citations list, OKMaps can do the hard part for you, be it APA, MLA, Chicago or ACM. We will cite your articles for you. Meaning, you can focus on what matters, your writing! Simply copy and paste, no need for further confusion. Check it out!
Yet another feature Open Knowledge Maps has rolled out this past year has been the export feature. This allows you to export a document of your choosing from the knowledge map to your desired reference manager. Easy as one, two, three - see for yourself!
Finally, we have also included tags for document types. Thanks to this feature you may identify the type of any document with ease. Within the map we have integrated icons differentiating between text, datasets, maps, audio, video, software, and still images. This allows for quick and easy recognition of what you are looking for. Try creating a knowledge map limited to specific document types to take this feature for a spin!
The Open Knowledge Maps team and our mappers are not the only ones who have been busy this year. Our board of supporting members has made ample contributions to OKMaps, in more ways than one!
A selection of supporting members have successfully integrated our services into their own platforms. Take a moment to check out how the Université de Lausanne included OKMaps on their website by way of showcasing a knowledge map for each of their core research areas. This is just one example of the myriad out there of how OKMaps can assist in optimising an organisation's online experience.
Our team is working steady and hard on providing you with novel developments that may ease your workflow. Be on the lookout for the next big thing!
In the meantime, we wish you all the happiest of holidays and happy mapping. We hope all of the presents we’ve gifted you will enhance your research journey.
